Sergio Martinez is a master weaver and designer of heirloom quality tapestries. He comes from a cultural lineage of Zapotec weavers from Teotitlán del Valle, a small traditional Zapotec village in the Central Valley of Oaxaca, Mexico. He has worked as a professional weaver, colorist and rug designer for well over 20 years. His tapestries have been collected by celebrities and discerning rug collectors throughout the world. His art has been featured in countless design and interior decorating books and has been on the cover of Architectural Digest Magazine three times. Sergio brings a one of a kind style to rug making that is unique and outside the realm of mass-produced, commercial and machine made rugs. Each piece is original and hand woven with the finest churro wool and natural and Swiss aniline dyes. Sergio's original designs are influenced and inspired by elements that are native to indigenous peoples throughout the world which include the ethnic groups of Guatemala, Bolivia, the Navajo, Zuni, Hopi and the Showa tribe in Zaire.
