*as understood in the book 'The Four Agreements'.

Encaustic is an ancient painting technique using heated beeswax, pigment, and various resins. Encaustic paintings are durable and last longer than oil paintings, as evidenced by history and the perfectly preserved Fayum paintings created by the Egyptians in the third century.

Encaustic can be cleaned easily with a damp cloth. As long as prolonged direct exposure to heat over 120 degrees F. is avoided, encaustic works will provide a lifetime of enjoyment and subtle mystery.
