Shlomo Shuval is a self-taught craftsman who has been working in the arts since 1979. He has worked in various mediums and has established several productions studios. He came to California from his home country of Israel in 1990 and after several years of experimentation, he invented a technological breakthrough in rock mediums, enabling him to create a new dimension in the visual arts.
Sierra Slate is a method of directly and permanently transferring photographic images onto the surface of slate. Shuval primarily uses historic photographs for the slate as the combination of these two timeless mediums "are made for each other." Due to the unique mature of each piece, no two slate images are alike and each piece has its own special three-dimensional qualities.
