Artist Biography

Lloyd Powell is an enrolled member of the Chickasaw Nation. He is a 16 year Sun Dancer and sweat lodge leader. Lloyd is the Chair Person for Resources for Indian Student Education (RISE) in Alturas, California and was voted as an honored elder by the California Conference of American Indian Education in 2009. He lives his life in a way that is congruent with his spiritual beliefs and his commitment to his art reflects that life. Each piece is created with authenticity and attention to detail.

Lloyd resides with his wife on 30 acres in Modoc County, California where he gardens, raises livestock and pours sweat lodges for RISE and Warner Creek Correctional Facility.
