Artist's BiographyHolland is a painter, cartoonist and teacher. He has had a one man show every year since 2000 in the Reno area. His specialties as a painter include landscapes, and old buildings. He strives for a certain “sparkle” to his loose, boldly executed paintings. Holland is working on a line of note cards that will celebrate an old building from every town in the state of Nevada, as well as the wild parts of Northern California. Holland has won many awards with his painting, including a Professional Artists grant from Sierra Arts, a Best of Show at Faces and Places 2006, and several awards from the Nevada Artist’s Association. Holland has also done several murals in Alaska and in Nevada. He is currently working on a Wheeler Peak mural on Elmcrest Elementary in Reno. He exhibits his work at the Co-op Gallery and Catherine Bouwer Fine Art Gallery in Reno, and at Vigil’s Collection in Nevada City, CA. Holland will have a one man show at Dreamer’s Coffee shop and Gallery in August 2007, with a reception on August 23rd. Holland also draws cartoons for several Nevada publications, including the Nevada Rancher, the Nevada Appeal, the Sparks Tribune, Ahora, the Record-Courier, Petfolio, and the Nevada Observer. He teaches art at Rainshadow Charter High School, as well as with Sierra Arts and Very Special Arts. Rainshadow has an art show twice a year at which the students sell their work. He studied at the Chicago Academy of Fine Art, The Art Students League of New York and the San Francisco Academy of Art. |
