Concerning My Work"My latest works have derived from a variety of personal interests and influences. Over the years I have studied and collected in the American Southwest, I have been especially interested in Native American and Mexican folk art, which are rich in symbolism and connections to history. My techniques also embody what I have learned in my own history, especially my having grown up near the New York City art scene, I prefer a multi-media approach, and use a variety of pigments and found materials to create a textured surface of deep color. My main objective in the content of this new work is to create pieces that are both decorative and thought provoking, I want my work to be appealing to the imagination as well as to the eye." |
